Chair in Sociology, Centre for Women's Studies - The University of York

The Centre for Women’s Studies and Department of Sociology seeks to appoint a Chair in the Sociology of Gender. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional scholar to join one the UK’s most exciting teams of social scientists working in the field of women’s studies. You will be an outstanding sociologist of women’s studies/gender with internationally recognised knowledge of the field.

Key requirements

•PhD (or equivalent experience) in Sociology (or other related discipline) in area of gender/women’s studies

•Outstanding and internationally recognised knowledge in the sociology of gender/women’s studies

•Proven leadership and managerial skills

•Ability to define, lead, develop and attract funds for internationally excellent research, operating across disciplinary boundaries

•Evidence of high quality research and published in leading peer-reviewed journals

Salary will be commensurate with experience on the professorial scale, band 1 current minimum £60,266 per annum.
